Dr Diana Betancourt is a leading type 2 diabetes researcher, known for her groundbreaking work on the causes of the condition and potential treatments. She holds a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr Betancourt’s research looks at the molecular mechanisms behind insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction, the hallmarks of type 2 diabetes. Her work has led to the identification of new therapeutic targets, and she has published many papers in leading scientific journals. Alongside her research, Dr Betancourt is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of diabetes researchers and has trained numerous postdoctoral fellows and graduate students who now work in academia and industry.
