Choosing between tablet types and strengths
Standard tablets
Glucophage provides the broadest represented strength range: 250 mg, 500 mg, 850 mg and 1000 mg. Its packs range from 60 tablets at 250 mg to 360-tablet packs across the higher strengths. Glycomet is represented in 250 mg and 500 mg strengths, with pack quantities from 30 to 360 tablets. The listed Metformin tablets are available in 500 mg and 850 mg, including smaller 10-tablet packs for the 850 mg strength and packs up to 360 tablets.
Extended-release tablets
Glycomet SR is the represented extended-release option, supplied as 1000 mg tablets in packs of 60 or 90. Extended-release tablets release metformin more gradually than standard tablets. They are not interchangeable with standard tablets on a tablet-for-tablet basis unless your prescriber has advised this, and they should be swallowed whole rather than crushed or chewed.
