Glipizide
Glipizide is a sulfonylurea medicine used to help lower blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes. It works by encouraging the pancreas to release insulin. It is generally used alongside a suitable diet and physical activity plan, according to a clinician's advice.

We currently offer two glipizide tablet options: Glucotrol, a standard tablet in 5 mg, and Glucotrol XL, a prolonged-release tablet available in 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg strengths. The key difference is how the tablet releases glipizide: prolonged-release tablets are designed to release the medicine gradually, so follow the directions supplied for your particular product and do not alter a prolonged-release tablet unless a healthcare professional advises you to do so.

Glucotrol XL prolonged-release tablets
Glucotrol XL provides more strength and pack-size choices. For 2.5 mg, packs contain 30, 60, 90, 180 or 270 tablets, priced from £8.15 to £32.60; the 270-tablet pack is listed at £32.60 and works out at £0.12 per tablet. The 5 mg option comes in packs of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 or 360 tablets, with prices from £47.41 to £460.78 and a lowest listed price of £1.28 per tablet. For 10 mg, choose 90, 120, 180, 270 or 360 tablets, priced from £61.49 to £162.98; the lowest listed unit price is £0.45 per tablet.
